The article presents a teaching intervention, aiming to the development of academic language skills by bilingual students, during a visit to an exhibition. The theoretical framework of this intervention lies in the pedagogical approach of "Multiliteracies". A genre- based approach is being used, in order to facilitate the students in the production of texts.Prior to text production, the students came across texts and kinds of speech existing in printed or electronic forms, giving emphasis to the development of academic vocabulary through text analysis.The results of the intervention infer, that the students are facilitated in the production of written speech, when they have already confronted texts similar to the one they have been asked to produce, and, when the communicative situation in which the text will be incorporated, is clearly defined.
