The aim of this study was to investigate the development of morphological awareness on 185 primary school Greek-speaking pupils (Grades 1-2). Participants were administered four tasks for measuring morphological awareness (inflected word analogy, derived word analogy, morphemic segmentation, morphemes reversal). The results showed developmental differences in the acquisition of three aspects of morphological awareness (awareness of inflectional morphology, awareness of derivational morphology, awareness of the morphology of compounds). In addition, the overview of the findings showed that these three aspects of morphological awareness follow different growth rate, in accordance with the general trend emerging from the experimental literature.
