People tend to think about assessment in kindergarten in the same way they do about assessment in primary or secondary education. Research evidence, however, as well as good early years practice suggest that the development of young children and their learning cannot be measured, only assessed through observations. The latter need to be based on developmental criteria and to be utilised to inform the practitioners' planning.
