Abstract:
From 1892 until and including 1948, the following secondary schools were in operation covering the needs of South Corfu (in brackets are the school years each school was in operation): Lefldmmi Greek School (1892-93 till 1928-29), Lefkimmi Part Secondary School (1929-30 till 1939-40), Lefkimmi City School under the Imperative Law 770/1937 (1937-38 til 1938-39) and Lefkimmi City School under the Imperative Law 1800/1939 ( 1939-40 until and including 1947-48). The archives of these schools have been to a large extent preserved and in fact remain in very good to excellent condition. In particular, the most important records such as the Student Lists, the Analytical and General Marks, the Degree Records and the Staff Books have been preserved in their entirety. Therefore, the loss of a part of the other, less important archive material is not a serious hurdle in recording the history of these specific schools. The reasons, however, why this material was lost are noteworthy.
