Abstract:
Management research on Intellectual Capital for various economic sectors is indeed growing during the last two decades. Issues, such as the efficiency of investments in knowledge assets and the assessment of their value, are indeed of interest to the research community all over the world. These issues encompass complicated methodological approaches, mainly due to the non tangible nature of those assets. This paper is informative in nature based on a literature review and it focuses on both the libraries and publishing companies aiming to provide the relevant concepts, definitions, research pathways for the Intellectual Capital analysis. It must be noted, however, that the available literature is limited and thus novel research issues are attempted. Initially, the definition of the term “Intellectual Capital” is provided through a literature review and special issues, such as the importance of Intellectual Capital in Library and Publishing companies.
