Abstract:
The present study investigated the probable differentiation of self-perception and self-esteem of pupils, aged 10-12 years, according to their national origin, academic achievement in Greek Language and Maths, and their sex. A sample of 196 pupils in grades 5 and 6 participated in the study. The self-esteem and self-perception were measured with the "Self-Perception Profile for Children" (Harter,1985), and the academic achievement was based on the GPA in the two subjects above. The results showed that self-esteem, self-perception of behavior and peer relations of foreigner pupils are lower of Greek pupils, Maths differentiate the degree of selfesteem and sex has an effect on behavior.
