The purpose of this article is to explore some different perspectives and cross-cultural ideas on issues and questions relating to inclusive education. We cannot underestimate the importance of recognizing the particularities, as well as the commonalities, of some of the priorities, barriers and contradictions involved in trying to widen participation in education in different settings. We believe we cannot talk about 'inclusive education' as if it was an entity that can be clearly identified and defined, or free of historical context. In this article we tackle some of the main questions regarding the implementation of inclusive policies and practices in various contexts mainly focusing on problems related to English government inclusive policy.
