Abstract:
The aim of the present study is to adapt the Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ) developed by Robinson, Mandleco, Olsen & Hart (1995, 2001) to Greek. More specifically it examines the reliability and validity of the Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ) as a suitable instrument for the evaluation of Greek mothers' parenting styles. The Greek version of the questionnaire was administered to 2472 mothers from thirteen different regions of Greece and its validity and reliability were tested. The data analysis led to a four-factor structure, consisted of the authoritative, authoritarian, strict and permissive parenting styles of mothers. The results indicated that the Greek version of the PSDQ can be used as a reliable psychometric tool to evaluate Greek mothers' parenting styles.
