Abstract:
International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, known more commonly as ICF, is a classification of health and health-related domains, proposed by World Health Organization(WHO). These domains are classified from body, individual and societal perspectives by means of two lists: a list of body functions and structure, and a list of domains of activity and participation. Authors of this article analyze in detail the fundamental conceptual assumptions of ICF and its paradigmatic and practical implications for the work with children with disabilities.Additionally, by highlighting the main advantages of the use of ICF version for children and adolescents (ICF-CY), authors define the theoretical framework for developing comprehensive Individual Educational Programs for children and adolescents with disabilities.
