Abstract:
In Modern Greek there are certain reappearances of linguistic phenomena unknown to Classical Attic, but assumed to have existed in prior stages of Greek. Such “atavisms” are e.g. the form γράφεσαι, the agglutination in the paradigm γραφόμουν, the reduction of number of voices into active and medio-passive only, and the re-introduction of the vowel a in positions from where it had disappeared.
