Abstract:
This paper refers to the factors and the functions of the verbal communication (Jakobson 1960' Babiniotis 1984) and discusses how these factors and functions may be formulated in advertising communication.It also deals with the role of pertextual function in determining the structure of advertising text through the selections or the deviations, appropriate syntagmatic combinations, linguistic parallelism and repetition. Findly, the mechanism of alliteration as an element of pertextual-poetic function is examined in detail (with examples) and relevant conlusions are drawn.
