Abstract:
This paper is concerned with the stochastic control of population distributed on 9 geographic regions in Greece. Particularly, having the transition matrix between urban, semi-urban and rural pupulation and the corresponding growth operator matrix in each geographic region, we determine the maintainable and attainable region of the population distribution and the corresponding intervention factor to obtain a desired population distribution. These results of the analysis seems to be very helpful in the regional planning.
