Abstract:
To be able to write a successful book for the teaching of the Greek language in Germany one has to work deductively: Star ting from the universally established profile of the contemporary pupil of a foreign language (i.e. he works mentally, is self-activated in the classroom, aims at professional needs and is a cosmopolitan) we can deduce the “otherness” of the German pupil: His/her native language is Indo-European and synthetic and he/she has a German culture. The aim of the teacher of such a specific pupil is to teach him/her not only the Greek language but to make him/her aware of the Greek culture as well, and enable him/her to cope with both language and culture in his/her everyday communication. This paper first tries to give a definition of the Greek culture as a didactic objective and refers to criteria that can lead to the selection of relevant topics and, secondly gives an example of how the intercultural parameter can support such work.
