Roman coins from the Alexandros Gr. Soutzos collection

In accordance with the terms of his will, the Alexandros Gr. Soutzos Collection was donated to the Numismatic Museum in 1904 after his death, by his son, Alexandros A. Soutzos.Amongst the coins in the collection, which numbers 2.355 pieces, most of them ancient Greek, there are 299 Roman coins, which are presented in the present catalogue. The Greek coins will be published shortly by the same authors in the Sylloge Nummorum Graecorum series.These coins cover the whole of Roman history, from the Republic (211 BC) to Late Imperial times and the last emperor, Theodosius II (AD 402-455).
