Abstract:
The present short study formed part of an article with the same title that recently appeared in the volume Ειλαπίνη, published by the Municipality of Heraklion in honour of N. Platon, but which was not included in that publication. It has Tables showing the different types of the graves, their architectural forms and their contents. The greater part of the material came to us as a result of confiscations by the gendarmerie or of excavations carried out at the beginning of the century, or was never properly published, and it is thus not possible to form any conclusions about the social organization of the place during the Early Iron Age.The Tables examine separately the vaulted tombs, rock-cut chamber tombs, burial caves, funerary herki (burial enclosures) and pithos burials outside of the graves; they specify whether the burials were found intact or not, and they give the dates indicated by the pottery. As regards the funerary customs, the tables show whether they were burials, cremations or a combination of the two together. The different categories of grave goods are described: pottery, jewellery, weapons, seal stones, Minoan stone vases, precious objects (of faience, gold, and ivory) and animal bones
