Abstract:
This paper attempts to give a general view of the two linguistic terms interference and borrowing (meaning and uses, point of view of speaker and hearer, necessity of interference, forms of borrowing, discrimination between interference and borrowing). In particular, regarding borrowing the following subjects are briefly discussed: causes, functions and results, conditions, linguistic forms, morphology and syntax, semantics, pragmatics, appreciation.
