Abstract:
The article discusses the mural paintings of three published monuments of Bulgaria whose dating is debated here both from iconographic and stylistic terms. The first of them is the surviving yet fragmented decoration of the chapel of the monastery of Aladja which stylistically can be placed in the second half of the 15th century, the second layer in the church of Saints Theodore at Bobosevo which can be dated at the beginning of the 16th century and finally the fragments of frescoes that came to light during the excavations at the church of Saint-Elias at Ourvić whose style resembles those of the end of the 16th century.
