In the narthex of Karanlık kilise, the donor John is depicted kneeling down in front of Christ, in the scene of the Benediction of the Apostles. The re-examination of John’s inscription indicates that he is not baring the title of “entalmatikos”. According to the new reading «ἐντάλματί σου », the donor was acting by order of Christ in the interest of the Church.
