Abstract:
The pieces in question are a plain, disc-shaped golden pendant with a core of probably organic material, possibly a talisman or keepsake; a gold ring with a pie-dish bezel set with an hexagonal sapphire, possibly the product of an Aegean workshop; and an English-style posy ring. All three are dated to the 15th century. X-ray fluorescence was used to determine the composition of the metal, while a specialist’ s help was sought for a better understanding of manufacture techniques for all three pieces.
