Abstract:
The purpose of this study is the reexamination of the Palaiologan icon of Christ in Glory and the apostles, which is located in the Museum of the Greek community of Venice and which in the past was dated to the mid 14th century. All the elements of the icon argue for dating it to the beginning of the 15th century. This Constantinopolitan icon of Venice undoubtedly is a key work for the art of the late Palaiologan period, since it offers invaluable evidence about the influence of this art on the formation of the so-called school of Crete.
