Abstract:
In the present paper bank profitability will be examined in the international level before theoutburst of the financial crisis as a function of an internal to the bank factor (entrepreneurial caliber) as well as a function of an external to the bank factor (economic growth of the country, within which banks operate.) Economic growth is a sound indicator of economic climate. It will be pointed out using an econometric model with panel data that both afore-mentioned factors have a positive impact on banking profitability, as well as that these two factors are the most important ones as far as bank profitability is concerned.
