In this paper we first define several terms relating to four market structures (models) and to technological advance (progress). Then we survey our four market models, evaluating their strengths and shortcomings in regard to technological advance and we assess whether particular market structures are conducive to technological advance. Finally, we come to some conclusions whether there is some particular market structures or firm size that is best suited to technological advance.
