Abstract:
This paper is an attempt to approach the significance of competitiveness in connection with productivity. A short critical review of the theory of New Economic Geography is attempted and its contribution to the regional economic growth is examined. Finally, the importance of knowledge and the business clusters are examined, particularly under the light of new tendencies in the policies of regional development in the countries of OECD.
