The Socio-economic development of tripolis area and the initiative of the local administration to establish a pawnshop during First period of King Otto

By this recommendation, we try to demonstrate the way of structure of the Arcadian economy and especially in the town of Tripolis for one hundred and twenty five almost years (1715-1840/1), in order to evaluate through time the local financial situation on 1842, the possibilities and expectations, the prohibitions and difficulties which has driven to the local financial crisis, which the Local Government tried to prevent by establishing a pawnshop. The 19th European century is the period that capitalism grows up and strengthen. In Greece, and at the beginning of the ending century (20th century) the lack of industrialization affects the financial progresses. The financial problems in the Greek region were concluded and hard to solve. The local government, as a conveyor of the anxiety and daily difficulties of the citizens , is speculated and as happened with Municipality of Tripolis, it tries to find out exits , using specific measures. The most important also action of the Municipal Council is its decision of 17.12.1842. The various local difficulties are those which orientate the thought of the municipal government of Tripolis, because "no other city of Greece has suffered so many misfortunes" to ask from King Otto to establish a local pawnshop ("Shop of Mercy – Monte de societe" –sic) " they same as they are in all cities of the Christian Nations of Europe". The Local Government of Tripolis tries through the Supreme Governor, to operate this pawnshop in order to solve the existed social problems and strengthen it with 30.000-40.000 drchs from the State Revenue Office . This capital has been predicted to be increased through a payment of the Municipal Pay Office of Tripolis and other payments from "philanthropists". For the citizens service, they were ready to increase the loan interest to 6-8%. There was no demand’s fulfillment. The financial and political progresses prevented the fulfillment of requests of this form and content.
