In this study we are given a picture of the Pre-Socratic philosophers' ideasconcerning the world's beginnings. The author discusses the views of Thaies, Anaximander, the Melitians, Anaximenes, Pythagoras, Xenophanes, Heraclitus, Parmenides, Melissus, Zeno, Empedocles, Anaxagoras who influenced Plato and Aristotle, and Democritus who developed the philosophical system of his teacher, Leucippus.
