Abstract:
Prof. Paschos presents a version of a known poem called "Threnos", which was probably a liturgical hymn of the Eastern Orthodox Church. The Christians used this poem during the Matins on Holy Saturday. The text of this poem has already been published by prof. Bakker. But Paschos discovered the most ancient -up now- manuscript, which contains the hymn, in the Library of the Zavorda's monastery. Using the edition of Bakker, and all the other manuscripts of the tradition, the author is presenting a new edition of the Text based upon the ancient manuscript of Zavorda's monastery, which contains several differences from the already known version. Before the test the author gives a detailed preface explaining his method and presenting all the important information and conclusions of the critical work.
