The article presents the first study done by the Director of the Studies Office of the Association for Supporting the Schools. The Director, who holds a degree from the Education Sciences Department of the University of Geneva, conducted this study in 1963, in order to approach scientifically the teaching and school issues of the Greek Minority of Istanbul (Constantinople). In 21 tables and 12 diagrams the study shows: The pupil population of the primary schools (1949-1963), of the 'elementary education schools' (1922-1929), of middle education schools (1949-1963), both the total number and the number of pupils by gender, the dropout and repeat rates of the elementary and middle education schools, the number of primary school teachers, and the post-high-school orientation of the middle education graduates.
