Η σύνταξη αυτού του άρθρου βασίστηκε στη μελέτη της περίπτωσης των μαθητών που είναι ή αντιμετωπίζονται ως ομοφυλόφιλοι στο σχολικό πλαίσιο. Το ενδιαφέρον για το συγκεκριμένο θέμα, προκλήθηκε από την εμπειρική διαπίστωση του συγγραφέα, ως Σχολικού Συμβούλου, ότι στα σχολεία υπάρχουν μαθητές που δέχονται έντονη ψυχολογική, λεκτική ή σωματική βία, επειδή συμπεριφέρονται με τρόπους που δεν θεωρούνται «συμβατοί» με το βιολογικό και κοινωνικό τους φύλο. Οι περιπτώσεις αυτών των μαθητών προκαλούν έντονο προβληματισμό και αμηχανία στους εκπαιδευτικούς των σχολείων. Το άρθρο, αξιοποιώντας τη συγκεκριμένη βιβλιογραφία, παρουσιάζει το ψυχολογικό προφίλ αυτών των μαθητών, τους τρόπους αντιμετώπισής τους από τους συμμαθητές τους, τους εκπαιδευτικούς και τις οικογένειές τους, καθώς και τις ψυχοκοινωνικές και εκπαιδευτικές επιπτώσεις στη ζωή τους. Τέλος καταλήγει στο συμπέρασμα ότι χρειάζεται να ληφθούν μέτρα στήριξης αυτών μαθητών στο σχολικό πλαίσιο για να προστατευθεί η σωματική και ψυχική τους υγεία.
