In this paper I examine mainly a fragment of an epic poem ascribed to Asius of Sa mos, which is quoted by Athenaeus XII p. 525e—f. Especially, after presenting all the readings and corrections until now known, with other observations, referring to the whole relevant passage of Athenaeus (XII pp. 525 e_f — 526 a), I make an emendation (and an interpretation) of the verses 1 and 7 of Asius' fragment
