Ένταυθα εξετάζονται αι είς τόν Θεαίτητον του Πλάτωνος προσαγόμεναι υπό του Σωκράτους δύο μεταφορικαί έρμηνείαι, αί όποιαι βεβαίως είναι αντίθετοι προς την Πλατωνικήν περί γνώσεως άντίληψιν, αύται ενώ κατ' αρχάς έγιναν δεκταί ενθουσιωδώς ύπο του Θεαίτητου, κατά τήν έπακολουθήσασαν έπ' αυτών συζήτησιν ελέγχονται ως έσφαλμέναι και απορρίπτονται. Εις τήν μελέτην αποδεικνύεται ότι κάθε μία εκ τών ερμηνειών τούτων εκθέτει προληπτικώς δύο αντιπάλους απόψεις περί μνήμης αί όποιαι ήσκησαν ίσχυράν έπίδρασιν είς τήν σύγχρονον ψυχολογικήν σκέψιν
