Abstract:
Theatre is made in space as well as of space. This assumption indicates not only that theatre needs space to unfold its performative power, but also that space is intrinsic to theatrical experience itself. This has led to various experimentations in the theatrical field both in the modern and postmodern era, questioning the performance-audience relationship and causing the emergence of new forms of subjectivity in relation to the lived experience through space. This paper explores the ways these shifts have penetrated the dramatic discourse in contemporary Greek drama, thus forming multiple layers of depiction of the postmodern conscience. Through the examination of six plays, which cover the past three decades, the paper will trace the successive transformations of "home," a space that has been prevalent in global as well as Greek dramaturgy of modern years
