Το άρθρο αυτό αναδεικνύει τα βασικά χαρακτηριστικά μιας παιδαγωγικής μεθοδολογίας στο πλαίσιο της περιβαλλοντικής εκπαίδευσης, η οποία επιχειρεί να συμβάλει στην ενδυνάμωση της σχέσης των κατοίκων των μεγάλων αστικών κέντρων με τη φύση. Η παιδαγωγική μεθοδολογία διαμορφώθηκε μέσα από μία συμμετοχική και συνεργατική διαδικασία, η οποία υλοποιήθηκε στο πλαίσιο του έργου ΘΕΡΦΥΣ - «Θεραπεύοντας την αποξένωση του σύγχρονου ανθρώπου από τη φύση. Διαμόρφωση παιδαγωγικής μεθοδολογίας για την ενδυνάμωση της σχέσης με το δασικό και αγροτικό περιβάλλον», με τη συμμετοχή εκπαιδευτικών και μαθητών της πρωτοβάθμιας και δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης. Στο άρθρο αναπτύσσονται οι βασικές παιδαγωγικές αρχές και παρουσιάζονται ενδεικτικές τεχνικές της παιδαγωγικής μεθοδολογίας, οι οποίες μπορούν να αξιοποιηθούν στο πλαίσιο προγραμμάτων περιβαλλοντικής εκπαίδευσης που επικεντρώνονται στην επανασύνδεση των κατοίκων των πόλεων με τη φύση
