Abstract:
PETRA is a Macedonian city located at the entrance of the Petra ravine of Macedonian Olympus. It was mentioned in the historical period, while its post-Byzantine remains are still very well preserved today. A research aiming at the discovery of prehistoric remains was carried out here, because of the old name (petra: rock) and the location of the city.3 ELIES is the name of the top of a hill near Petra. A cemetery of the transitional period(from the Late Bronze to the Early Iron Age) was located in this area, dating probably to the 11th century B.C.A comparison of this cemetery with that discovered at Spathes of Hagios Demetrios, dated to the Late Bronze Age and the Protogeometric cemeteries of burial mounds on the eastern foothills of Mt. Olympus is presented
