New evidence from the cemetery of Palaio Gynaikokastro

Like the previous excavational seasons, the excavation of the lower layer of the Early Iron Age cemetery at Palaio Gynaikokastro yielded a surrounding wall (peribolos) and three funerary platform-shaped structures, as well as ash-containers and Romangraves. Three more cist-graves were excavated in the area between Palaio and Neo Gynaikokastro, whose grave goods are probably dated to the same period. The finds of the cemetery at Palaio Gynaikokastro as well as the fore coming excavation of the settlement and the new finds discovered continuously suggest that asystematic research of the Early Iron Age of this area is required
