Abstract:
The excavation of the Gymnasium of Amphipolis yielded the palaestra and a building containing cisterns and baths, as well as the water supply and the drainage system of the buildings. The discovery of the xystus was continued, while there is evidence fora paradromis. Finally, the research of the wells around the altar revealed that sacrifices and symposia were carried out in this area. The Gymnasium is an important public building dated from the 4th century B.C. to the 2nd century A.D.
