Abdera. Hellenistic cemetery

Part of the Hellenistic cemetery of the city (25 burials) was discovered during the excavational research of the last years. There were male, female and infant burials inside cist-, pit- and tile covered graves as well as in pots. Some of them contained no grave good, while others were accompanied by rich offerings. Cist-grave no. 23 containing a female burial yielded gold jewpllery, nine big terracotta figurines, eight clay perfume bottles and two clay pyxides
