The ancient pipe at Kefalari of Drama

In 1989 during building activities in the grounds of the Slaughter-houses of the prefectures of Drama and Kavala, part of an ancient carefully built pipe was discovered. It runs from northwest to southeast and probably belongs to the pipe which supplied Philippi with water from Kefalari of Drama, as it is suggested by the visible remains of a similar pipe in the village of Kefalari. Its construction is related to the monumentary aqueduct on the western slope of the hill of Philippi in the middle of the 2nd century A.D.
