Abstract:
The excavation of the Hellenistic private house located in the eastern part of ancient Aigai was continued in 1992. It is a big house built in one of the natural terraces of the ancient city. It consists of a big central court-yard with rooms organized around its three sides and a corridor north from it. The corridor leads to the entrance located at the eastern side and probably to another entrance which existed in the northern part of the house. The northern part ofthe house comprises a veranda and probably two more rooms, all located in lower level. The finds and the foundation of the walls suggest two building phases, one dated to the late Classical or early Hellenistic period, and a second one dated to the advanced Hellenistic period. The house was destroyed in the second century B.C. by the Romans and was probably used for a short period immediately after the destruction
