Abstract:
Ten years after out first trial trench at «Toumbes» of Kalamoto, where the ancient city of Kalindoia is located, in November 1992 we carried out three more trial trenches which certified the continuity of habitation in that area from the Prehistoric to the Roman period. The first trench, on the top of the lowest mound, yielded building remains in three successive archaeological layers: a) late Hellenistic period, b) lateIron Age, c) early Bronze Age. Furthermore, inside the pits dug into the lastlayer late Neolithic pottery was also found. Another trial trench was carried out on the top of the highest mound-Table, northwest from the latter. It yielded seven circular pits used for storage, which contained Archaic pottery. Finally, a third trench carried out about 150 m. north from the mounds yielded architectural remains and a small cistern of the 1st century B.C.
