Abstract:
The archaeological research at the southern curve of the Archaic building Γ in the sanctuary of Poseidon on the Kassandra peninsula was completed this year. The curved end probably dates to an earlier than the rest of the building phase. The northern curved short side of the new «horsesho» type building ΣΤ was also found touching the southern curve of the archaic building. It dates to the late Mycenaean or the Protogeometric period (11th century B.C.) Refuse pits, which slowly evolved into a raised ash-altar, are found in the interior. The western wall of building ΣΤ is found under building E; it functioned as a platform supporting the products used in the sacrifices with fire which took place in the same area until the 5th century B.C. Depository pits dated to the 6th-5th centuries B.C. were excavated west from temple A; these yielded pottery of excellent quality, as well as part of a seal with an erotic subject
