Abstract:
A new interpretation is given for the epigram consisting of seven hexameters, engraved on the funerary relief published in AAA II (1969), 190. The dead to whom it refers is not a pig but a young slave liberated, called Choiros( pig ), who for some unknown reason emigrated from Dalmatia to Edessa, where he met a violent death, due either to a traffic accident or to the torture of the wheel (fig. 1 ).
