Abstract:
The church of Hagia Triada on Spetses Island is embellished with a wood carved templon of excellent craftmanship, that can be dated in the 19th century, first half. The templon had been attacked by wood - eating insects and the need for an immediate treatment was urgent. Therefore, the entire templonunderwent a most effective treatment for exterminating the insects through fumigation with methyl - bromide gas. This was the first application of the fumigation method, as regards the restoration of a templon, by the Greek Archaeological Service.
