Abstract:
Only two three-figured have been found in Mycenean Greece, the NM 3230 and the NM 11771, discovered in chamber tombs 79 of Mycenae and 6 of Aliki near Athens, respectively. Both have been called kourotrophoi, but they are better described as holy triads protecting the dead child in whose tomb they were placed on its journey to the Underworld. In the Mycenean group, the seated figurine, possibly a holy child or a young goddess, may be identified as a Ψ-type.
