Panayia, district of PrevezaAt the foot of the rocky hill « Spati », some 200 m. south of the village Panayia, a dedicatory inscription has been found, written on a marble stone(fig. 1 ). We learn that Soton, the son of Aristonoa, an emancipated slave, had built the temple of Artemis Pasikrata at his own expense. The letters would date the inscription to the 1st century B.C. The writing ει in the word είδίων instead of i had appeared since the III - II century B.C.The worship of Artemis as Pasikrata is known only from the neighbouring Ambrakia, where another dedicatory inscription of about the same period has been found (fig. 2). The inscription of Panayia lay near the walls of an ancient building. Future excavation will perhaps prove it to be Soton’s temple of Artemis Pasikrata.NikopolisThree groups of 24 cist graves built out the tiles have been excavatedsome 100 m. West of the Roman wall, at the site « Boufi ». Almost all of them had been robbed, but there remained enough ( unguentaria fig. 3, coins and vases ) to date them to the II - III century A.D. A grave monument in Π shape, measuring 17.25 X 3.29 m., deserves special mention (fig. 4).At the site « Koumasia » near the Roman baths «Bendenia», a cist limestone grave ( 2.25 X 0.90 m. ) contained 13 skeletons; five coins of the I - III century A.D., glass unguentaria and three lamps with relief decoration of the early III century A.D. (fig. 5 ) were found in it.
