Abstract:
The most kind, the first play of Galatia Kazantzaki, was submitted in Pandelidios competition in 1908. The playwright is influenced by the Nordic theatre and especially Ibsen. Her plays mostly deal with women’ emancipation. In The most kind, the heroine’s raison d’ être is love. Her husband represents kindness and nobility. Although the committee criticised the luck of technique and spelling mistakes of the play, they avoided commenting on the modern and progressive ideas afraid they would be called conservatives. In all her work G. Kazantzaki is constantly seeking the perfect relationship between two ideal personalities, who would not outshine each other. The play’s interest is mostly ideological.
