Abstract:
From Topolia ( Kastro ) in Boeotia, where the ancient city of Kopai was situated, comes a memorial epigram on grey stone (figs. 1 - 2). It belongs to a grave stele for the tomb of a man of Kopai dead in the year 457 B.C., in the battle of the Oinophyta. The stele bears an engraved representation of a warrior of the usual Boeotian type but is older than the Boeotian stelai so far known.
