This paper presents the initial results of an ongoing research project which aims to investigate the factors that will influence student teachers' training on pedagogic use of the interactive whiteboard (I.W.) in the learning process.The sample consisted of 97 students of the University of Athens. A questionnaire was administered, and this included sections about the level of computer use, the knowledge-representations for the I.W. and students' attitudes-views regarding their training on the I.W. use. The students reported advanced skills on computers, but their self-perceptions regarding knowledge on I.W. were low. Their representations are –in general-accurate, their attitudes very positive, and a desire was expressed for their forthcoming training with preferences on the units "basic skills for use" and "examples of educational use of I.W in mathematics and language". The findings will be taken into account for the design of activities during students' training, at the next stage of the research project.
