Abstract:
Examined are sculptures from the islands of Leros and Nisyros, which are dated from the tenth to the twelfth century. The most interesting pieces are the marble epistyle from the Virgin Spiliani on Nisyros, which is perhaps evidence of the original building phase of the monastery, and the three inscribed sculptures from Leros, which possibly belong to the churches of St Peter, St John the Theologian and the Virgin of Alinda, the founders of which may well be linked with Patmos and Hosios Christodoulos.
