Abstract:
The first publication of the tenth-century inscription from Phrygia did not explain the abbreviation B (3rd, 6th line) and the name Kallonas (4th line). After the examination of the sources, the term «basilikos» was analyzed. It refers to the special envoy of the emperor, who later would also acquire economic, fiscal and judicial responsibilities, but would cease to exist in the 11th century and be replaced by the «anthropoi of the emperor». We believe that the term «basilikoi» in the Inlice inscription refers to eminent members of the local aristocracy.
