Abstract:
The theatre of Dionysus in Athens occupies the eastern portion of the southern slope of Acropolis. This theatre has passed through phase after phase of alteration and development ; what is seen today is the cumulative result of all these phases. In the present article an attempt has been made to survey the main changes and improvements of this building in the course of the times, under the light of the recent archaeological and philological discoveries.
